Irene is the Founder and CEO of the award winning IX Fintech Group Limited (“the Group”). The Group produced the first crypto index in Hong Kong and the first post quantum safe digital asset machine & wallet and well recognized in the Fintech market. For consecutive two years, 2022 and 2021, the Group won the “Start-up of the year” of the Hong Kong Fintech Impetus Award by Metro radio and KPMG. Since 2019, the Group has 5 platforms which received Fintech awards covering traditional finance and new digital finance. Each platform has its mission which includes promoting financial literacy, promoting youth’s and promoting financial inclusion etc.
Before founding IX Fintech Group, Irene held various senior positions including senior vice president of Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Head of Hang Seng Indexes Company and Head of trade execution (Asia) for three global hedge funds including Eton Park Asia, and familiar with the use of derivatives and hedge fund strategies. Some of her projects including Hong Kong stock option revamp and FTSE/Hang Seng indexes series. Irene started in the finance industry as a futures and floor trader for Morgan Stanley and executed record stock option daily trades during the financial crises in 1997-1998. She was the only female in the Moran Stanley floor team during the financial crisis.
Graduated from London School of Economics with a bachelor degree in economics and a master degree in finance from the University of Hong Kong. Irene is a US qualified CPA and CGMA and later in her career, she took various financial engineering and executive management courses from Stanford University and Wharton Business School respectively. She spoke on TV, radio and being guest speakers for international conferences such as China International Derivatives Forum and Futures and Options World. She is also a regular columnist on economic and investment topics for Hong Kong Economic Journal other papers and awarded “Journalist of the Year- Highly Commended” (Alternatives, Chinese language category) at the State Street 2018 Institutional Press Award APAC. In 2021, Irene is selected by Amcham Women of Influence-STEM category as final three. Currently, she serves in the task force for United Nations UNDP ESCAP on Fintech and Regtech areas.
