Dr. David Ai graduated from the National Taiwan University with a degree in Psychology before pursuing graduate studies in the United States. He holds a Master’s in Computer Science from Indiana University, an MBA from Stanford University, and a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law. He is currently a registered patent attorney in California and serves as an advisory board member for several world-renowned universities.
Dr. Ai’s past roles include Head of Innovation at the London School of Economics and Political Science, Chief Innovation Officer for the University of Hawaii System, and Director of Knowledge Transfer at the City University of Hong Kong. From 2017 to 2019, he served as Chair of the International Strategy Committee for the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM). He also spent six years at the Stanford University Office of Technology Licensing, where he managed university inventions and led the university’s technology transfer efforts in China.
In corporate management, Dr. Ai achieved a 75% personal successful exit rate as Chief Advisor at Hitachi Corporate VC (2001-2006). In the 1990s, he co-founded an award-winning e-health company in Beijing and co-founded a joint venture cancer center in Shanghai. Previously, he held positions as Global Vice President at Varian Medical (NYSE: VAR, acquired by Siemens), Vice President of Marketing at Cirque Corporation (acquired by Japan’s ALPS), and Project Manager at Hewlett-Packard (H-P).
Mathias spent the first decade of his professional career as a Corporate/M&A lawyer in the Linklaters offices Hong Kong, New York and Frankfurt. After leaving private practice in 2018 he headed Morgan Stanley’s Prime Brokerage Business Consulting Unit for Asia Pacific and became an angel investor in FinTech startups. From 2021 to 2023 he was the COO of a prop-tech/legal tech startup in Hong Kong and is now the CEO of Tokuma Labs in Tokyo, building legal tech infrastructure for the next generation of legal AI. Mathias is qualified as a German and Hong Kong solicitor and holds a PhD from Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Germany.

Sabrina is the Senior Executive Director of the Hong Kong Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry (HKAPI). Ian Chau is a practising Barrister, doing mostly land or commercial cases. He read law at Cambridge and is a self-taught programmer. Daniel Chen brings over twenty years of comprehensive expertise to the intellectual property field, cultivated through varied roles in both in-house corporate settings and international law firms. As the Partner at Hong Kong Patent & Trademark Agent Limited, he currently leads business development, client engagement, and strategic IP consultancy, fostering a global network of IP agents.
Before co-founding HKPTA, Daniel was a Client Solutions Architect at CPA Global, where he empowered clients to maximize their IP value through advanced IP management software, patent search and analytics, and IP intelligence solutions across Greater China. His prior experience includes serving as a Patent Attorney at Bird & Bird, focusing on Chinese patent litigation and IP portfolio management, and as an IP Manager at Techtronic Industries, where he administered and protected extensive IP portfolios. Daniel began his career as a Patent Agent at Marks & Clerk, handling patent prosecution and drafting across diverse technical fields. His well-rounded background offers a unique perspective on IP from strategic, legal, and business standpoints.
Dr. Dongmin Chen is the deputy director of Tsientang Institute for Advanced study and the director of Tsintang Material Research Laboratory. He is also the Director of the Technology Commercialization Committee and the funding executive director (2019-2024) of Guangdong Songshan Lake Materials Lab. He is an Emeritus Professor at the Institute for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, and a co-director of the Center for Emerging Technology Industry Innovation Research, at Peking University. He was the former Director of the Office of Science and Technology Development at Peking University, which oversees universityindustrial partnership, university technology licensing, spin-offs, and University Entrepreneurship Education Program. Prof. Chen was a former advisor of WIPO Global Innovation Index. He is also an advisor in innovative economic development of a number of municipal governments in China.
Dr. Chen is a serial entrepreneur and has co-founded two silicon-valley-startups, raised more than 100M USD from top VC firms. He is a partner of Light Capital, an early-stage venture fund. He co-authored more than 100 scientific publications and 150 US and international patents. Dr. Chen is an advisor and a former Associated Editor for the Journal of Applied Physics.
Prof. Xiankai Chen is an associate professor of Jinan University School of Law. He got his Ph.D degree of Intellectual Property (IP) law from Renmin University of China and LL.M. degree from UC Berkeley. He has published dozens of articles in the area of IP in China’s leading legal journals, including the Law Review, Intellectual Property, Social Science Frontiers, etc. In addition, he has published a book entitled Prove It with Figures: Judicial Application of Trademark Surveys. The book has been awarded the Nomination Prize of the 9th China Law Society’s “Dong Biwu Prize for Legal Research of Young Scholars”, Third Prize of the 10th Guangdong Province Social Science Research Award, and the Special Award for Young Scholars of the 10th “Qian Duansheng Prize for Legal Research.” Besides, he has also published the Chinese translation of two academic books regarding the history of IP by two leading scholars in the U.S.A.
Yang Chen is an assistant professor at the City University of Hong Kong. He has received an LLB from China University of Political Science and Law, an LLM from London School of Economics, and another LLM and SJD from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. Yang works primarily in the areas of intellectual property law, with a keen interest in particularly trade secrets law and right of publicity. He also researches in trademark law and copyright law. His works have appeared in several journals such as the Columbia Journal of Law and the Arts, University of Pennsylvania Journal of Business Law, and Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal.
Mr. Yao Deng is a practicing lawyer of Lifang & Partners with ample experience in the fields of intellectual property right law and intangible cultural heritage law. Mr. Deng is currently the head of the Guangdong Provincial ICH Legal Aid Lawyers Committee, a member of the Guangdong Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Expert Committee, a legal consulting expert of the Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government, and a copyright consulting expert of Guangzhou Municipality. Previously, he has published 6 books including Traditional Safeguarding: Investigation and Research on Intellectual Property Issues of Intangible Cultural Heritage, Museum Intellectual Property Management and Protection Practice of Museum.
Farzan Farnia is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prior to joining CUHK, he was a postdoctoral research associate at the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, from 2019 to 2021. He received his master’s and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University and his bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics from Sharif University of Technology. His research interests span deep generative models, information systems, and convex optimization.

Prof. Fong obtained his LL. B & LL.M. degrees from National Taiwan University, College of Law. He received his LL.M degree from University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1987 and J.D. degree from Cornell Law School in 1990. After graduate from Cornell Law School, Prof. Fong practiced corporate law in a Philadelphia law firm, Stradley, Ronen, Stevens & Young, before he became a partner at a local law firm in Taiwan.
Currently, Prof. Fong is serving as Emeritus Professor at National ChengChi University. Before retirement, he served as the jointly-appointed professor at College of Business and College of Law at NCCU and in charge of Biopharmaceutical Section of NCCU’s EMBA program. In addition academic work, Prof. Fong serves in various governmental agency committees, such as Legal Affairs Committee of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).
Because of his diverse experience, Prof. Fong is also a prolific writer. He has authored more than a dozen books and over 200 academic articles, plus over 300 non-academic newspaper and magazine articles. Prof. Fong specializes in areas such as corporate law, securities regulation, intellectual property law, intellectual property management and licensing law. Presently, Prof. Fong teaches at NCCU’s College of Law, College of Business, EMBA and DBA (Doctoral of Business Administration) program.

Dr. Taorui Guan is an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Hong Kong, where he researches technology markets, China’s innovation system, and the governance of emerging technologies such as AI, robotics, and drones. A former Thomas Edison Innovation Law and Policy Fellow and recipient of the John M. Olin Prize in Law and Economics, he publishes in both English and Chinese and teaches courses on intellectual property and information technology law, including advanced programs on IP management and commercialization. Dr. Guan earned his S.J.D. and LL.M. (with International and Chinese Government Scholarships) from the University of Virginia, an MPhil (Distinguished Graduate) from Renmin University of China, and dual B.A./LL.B. degrees from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, each with national scholarships. He is Deputy Director of both HKU’s Law & Technology Centre and its LLM Programme in Technology and IP Law, serves as Associate Editor of the Hong Kong Law Journal, and is admitted to practice in New York and China, with membership in the Chinese Law Society.

Prof. Tianxiang He currently holds the position of Associate Professor at the School of Law, City University of Hong Kong. A multi-faceted academic, Prof. He’s extensive educational background includes an LL.B. degree from Huaqiao University, China (2007), and a Master’s degree in International Law from Jinan University, China (2009). Furthering his studies, he accomplished two distinct Ph.D. degrees: one in IP Law from Maastricht University, the Netherlands (2016), and another in Criminal Law from Renmin University of China (2017). In Europe, the Ius Commune Research School conferred to him an Honorable Mention in the Ius Commune Prize 2014. He also continues his affiliation with Maastricht University as an Associate Member of IGIR.

Presently, Dr. He extends his expertise by serving on the editorial board of the Chinese Journal of Comparative Law (CJCL), Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice (JIPLP), both published by the esteemed Oxford University Press, and Cambridge Forum on AI: Law and Governance, published by the esteemed Cambridge University Press.
En Hong is the Founder and CEO of Generis AI, a Hong Kong-based startup developing AI-driven solutions for regulatory compliance. His work is informed by over 15 years of experience at the intersection of finance, law, and technology. Prior to starting Generis AI, En held C-level positions at two multi-billion dollar hedge funds and senior regulatory roles at global financial institutions. En’s interdisciplinary approach is grounded in his academic background, which includes a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School, a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Emory University, and foundational studies in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has published research on computational neuroscience in the Journal of Neurophysiology and teaches a course in the Department of Quantitative Finance at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was recognized as one of LexisNexis Asia’s “40 under 40” legal leaders.
Dr. Yuanjia Hu is the Director of Centre for Pharmaceutical Regulatory Sciences, University of Macau, Associate Head of the Department of Public Health and Medicinal Administration, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Macau, and a Professor of State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences, University of Macau. Dr. Hu received B.Sc. degree from China Pharmaceutical University, Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Macau, and Guest Researcher fellowship in Austrian Institute of Technology. His research primarily focuses on medical data mining, complex system analysis, regulatory science of Chinese medicines, and pharmaceutical innovation management. He has led 30 domestic and foreign scientific research projects, published more than 180 academic papers in peer-reviewed journals such as Nature Biotechnology, Briefings in Bioinformatics, Pharmacological Research, and produced 4 monographs, 1 international standard, and 2 patents. He has cultivated and supervised more than 50 Ph.D., M.S. and postdoctoral students, and won more than 10 international and domestic awards, including the First Prize for International Contribution to Chinese Medicine. Robert D. Katz has practiced intellectual property law for almost 40 years. His experience encompasses virtually every aspect of intellectual property law. Mr. Katz has also represented both domestic and foreign client in business transactions.
Robert has been first chair in a large number of patent, trademark, copyright, unfair competition, and trade secret cases including jury trials, and has also handled arbitrations and mediations. He has obtained and opposed preliminary injunctions and briefed and argued appeals in State and Federal Courts. Robert has also handled patent interferences, reissues, IPR’s and Derivation proceedings, and reexamination proceedings as well as trademark oppositions and cancellations in the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
In addition to his active litigation practice, he has counseled clients on patent and trademark validity and infringement issues, has negotiated and drafted numerous license agreements, and has prepared and prosecuted numerous patent applications in many different areas of technology. Those technologies emphasize inorganic and organic chemistry, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, but also include medical devices, materials science, polymer chemistry, nanotechnology, semiconductors, nuclear energy, and green technology.
Mr. Johnson Lam was graduated from the University of Hong Kong and was admitted as a solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong SAR in 2005.
Mr. Lam specialized in the intellectual property laws. His areas of practice include the registration of trade marks, domain names, designs and patent; trade mark opposition, revocation, restoration and rectification proceedings; handling domain name disputes; enforcement actions relating to anti-counterfeiting and custom actions; assignment and licensing of intellectual property rights etc.
Mr. Lam has also completed a Master of Laws (China Laws) co-hosted by the City University of Hong Kong and the Remin University of China.
Timothy is a Senior Partner and Head of the Corporate and Commercial Practice at Longan & Lam LLP. He regularly acts for publicly listed companies in Hong Kong, United States, Australia, as well as private clients.
Timothy has extensive experience in dealing and setting up multi-jurisdictional corporate structures. His work often requires cross-border transactions involving the United States, Australia and China.
Timothy obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy), Bachelor of Laws and Master of Strategic Public Relations at the University of Sydney. He also obtained a Master of Laws from the University of New South Wales, a Master of Industrial Property from the University of Technology Sydney, a Master of Applied Law (Commercial Litigation) from the College of Law Australia, a Master of Buddhist Studies and a Master of Buddhist Counselling from the University of Hong Kong. Jyh-An Lee is Professor and the founding Executive Director of the Centre for Legal Innovation and Digital Society (CLINDS) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Faculty of Law. He oversees the New Ventures Legal Team, a clinical support group that collaborates with CUHK’s Pre-Incubation Centre to assist startup companies. Holding a JSD from Stanford Law School and an LLM from Harvard Law School, he has published on various facets of intellectual property and digital technology law. Since 2016, Professor Lee has also served as a panelist for the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre. Professor Lee has been featured on ABC News, BBC News, Bloomberg News, Financial Times, Fortune, and South China Morning Post as an expert on intellectual property and internet law. His works have been cited by the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the UK High Court of Justice, the US Copyright Office, the US Patent and Trademark Office, the US International Trade Commission, and the WTO dispute-settlement panel.

Yahong Li, JSD (Stanford), is an Associate Professor at the University of Hong Kong, Changjiang Chair Professor of Tongji University, Adjunct Professor at University of China Academy of Science. She is a member of Executive Committee of International Association for the Advancement of Teaching and Research in Intellectual Property (ATRIP), and Visiting Fellow/Scholar at Harvard, Cambridge, Max Planck, Berkeley, PKU and Zhejiang Univ., among others. She specializes in cross-disciplinary study of IP and innovation; and published multiple books including Imitation to Innovation in China: The Role of Patents in Biotech and Pharmaceutical Industries (EE, 2010), and numerous articles in top IP journals including IIC, LIT, CLSR, JIPLP, QMJIP, Cardozo AELJl, GRUR Int’l, and UPenn JIL.
Professor Lauren Yu-Hsin Lin is a Professor of Law at City University of Hong Kong and Associate Director of the Centre for Chinese and Comparative Law. Professor Lin is a leading scholar in corporate law and governance, whose empirical research offers critical insights into how regulations and governance practices influence corporate behavior. Her work has appeared in leading academic journals—including the Journal of Legal Studies and the Journal of Empirical Legal Studies—and has been featured in major media outlets, such as The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, and Bloomberg. Professor Lin’s scholarship has been cited by the Delaware Court of Chancery, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, underscoring its impact on policymaking. In addition to her role as Associate Editor of the International Review of Law and Economics, she was appointed President (2025–2026) of the Asian Law and Economics Association (AsLEA). Professor Lin is also a Research Member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI).
Michael Lin (林明傑, BA Berkeley – Biochemistry; JD Boston University; USPTO Patent Attorney; Ohio Attorney – non-practicing) was such a terrible bench chemist that he had to become a lawyer. With 28+ years’ experience in Asia handling Intellectual Property (Procter & Gamble JP/CN 1997-2010, Marks & Clerk Hong Kong 2010-24), Michael believes that IP is an underappreciated business tool. As a consultant, he assists entrepreneurs and SMEs to grow while enhancing their competitive edge so that they can build products and services to delight consumers for years.

Jingwen Liu is a research fellow at the Centre for Legal Innovation and Digital Society (CLINDS) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Faculty of Law. Her research interests include intellectual property law, competition policy, data governance, and comparative legal study. Her publications appear in various academic journals such as the Columbia Journal of Law & the Arts, American Business Law Journal, European Intellectual Property Review, and Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice. She has been listed as a WIPO ADR Young Member since 2023. Prior to commencing her PhD study, she was a practicing lawyer in the People’s Republic of China specializing in trademark and brand protection. She also held a visiting position at Singapore Management University Yong Pung How School of Law in 2021.

Prof. Kung-Chung Liu studied law at the National Taiwan University where he received the degrees of Bachelor of Law and Master of Law. He later obtained his Doctor of Law degree from the Ludwig Maximilian Universität (University of Munich) Germany. Prof. Liu visited Singapore Management University between April 2014 and June 2015 and found the Applied Research Center for Intellectual Assets and the Law in Asia (ARCIALA). He joined SMU as Lee Kong Chian Professor of Law (Practice) in 2017 after he retired as research fellow from Institutum Iurisprudentiae, Academia Sinica, Taiwan. Prof. Liu’s academic credential is widely recognized in Asia, as he is also co-appointed full faculty member of the Graduate Institute of Technology, Innovation & Intellectual Property Management, National Chengchi University (2010-), Taiwan, and Renmin University of China ( 2017-). Dr. Wai Shun Lo is currently General Partner of DL Capitals (點亮資本), an angel investment fund focusing on disruptive and exponential technologies. He is also Adjunct faculty of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (MSc/Entrepreneurship/ IT Management, EMBA/Innovation, OneMBA/Entrepreneurship), and Visiting Professor of PKU (School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship).

His previous experience includes positions with Bell Labs, Cable & Wireless Innovation, Hong Kong Telecom, and S Venture, an early stage investment company. Dr. Lo was a Senior Researcher at Harvard Business School’s (HBS) Asia-Pacific Research Center. He had conducted many consulting projects for institutions and PE funds such as HK Government (regulatory policy), IFC of World Bank (Investment strategy in China), Intellectual Ventures (Invention Network) and had advised many startups in the past.
He holds BSc and Mphil from CUHK, a Ph.D. from Brown University, and has executive management training from INSEAD.
Prof. Eliza Mik has joined the Faculty of Law in January 2021. Prior to that she was researching and teaching at the Singapore Management University from January 2010 until December 2018, and then at Melbourne Law School throughout 2019. Before joining academia, she worked in-house for a number of software and telecommunications companies in Australia, Poland, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates. She advised on software licensing, technology procurement, digital signatures, and e-commerce regulation. Her PhD focused on the private law aspects of e-commerce and on general problems of transaction automation. From 2014, she has actively researched smart contracts and blockchains, with a special emphasis on the legal prerequisites of their successful implementation in mainstream commerce. Eliza has advised the World Bank and the Monetary Authority of Singapore. At present, she is a member of the UNCITRAL Expert Group for the Digital Economy, a member of the Inclusive Global Legal Innovation Platform on ODR (iGLIP, Hong Kong), a Research Associate at the Tilburg Institute for Law, Society and Technology (TILT, Netherlands) and an Affiliate Researcher with the Centre for AI and Digital Ethics at the University of Melbourne (CAIDE, Australia).

Prior to joining Thomson Reuters, Stephanie practised as a Biglaw corporate lawyer, before moving into a legaltech startup with dual functions as their in-house legal counsel and first Asia hire to spearhead their APAC business. Stephanie is currently also a lecturer at both The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The City University of Hong Kong teaching legal technology to law students.
Ernest is an English Barrister who practised at the Bar in London. Ernest has over fifteen years of experience in Higher Education and has taught in China, London, Malaysia and Singapore. He has received two Lord Dearing Awards (Excellence in Teaching 2017 and Excellence in Educational Leadership 2020) from the University of Nottingham and the Zhejiang Municipal Excellent Teacher Award (2018). Ernest is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, United Kingdom. He is an examiner for several institutions, including the University of London. He has extensive experience in university administration and held the title of ‘Campus Senior Tutor’ at the University of Nottingham, where he was responsible for student engagement, welfare and experience. He has experience in instructing management of organisations in legal training as part of executive education programmes. Ernest is currently completing his PhD at Hong Kong University in Artificial Intelligence, and Intellectual Property Law, supervised by Professor Yahong LI.

Ms. Xuan Sun is a Ph.D. candidate at the Faculty of Law, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, under the supervision of Professor Jyh-An Lee. David Tan is a Singaporean law professor at the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law. He was the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs from January 2015 to June 2021. His legal scholarship covers intellectual and intangible property law. He is also a fine art and fashion photographer, with exhibitions presented by Cartier and Versace. David was elected the Vice President (Business Development & Communications) of the Singapore Badminton Association, a volunteer position, in September 2024. He was appointed to the advisory board of the National Museum of Singapore in 2025.
David graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne, and he was a resident of Trinity College, Melbourne (1991–1995) where he was named Valedictorian. He was awarded the RJ Hamer and Corrs Chambers Westgarth Prizes in Constitutional & Administrative Law, Price Waterhouse Prize in Contracts, and Rayne Dickson Memorial Exhibition Prize in Health & Medical Law. David was conferred a Master of Laws in 1999 from Harvard, where he attended on the Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship.
David worked in DBS Bank before joining the Singapore Administrative Service in December 2001, serving as director of International Talent at the Ministry of Manpower and head of Contact Singapore, and as Director of Sports in the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports. David left the Singapore Administrative Service and enrolled in the Ph.D. programme at Melbourne Law School in 2006. He received the Oakleaf Award from Trinity College at the University of Melbourne for “his services to the arts, law and education”. The Oakleaf Award commemorates 150 years of Trinity College by recognising living alumni and supporters who have made a notable contribution to Trinity, the broader community, or both, within Australia or globally.
David joined NUS Law as an assistant professor in December 2008. In 2012, he became a tenured associate professor. He was appointed vice dean of academic affairs in 2015, overseeing the LL.B. and LL.M. programmes. In 2016, he was appointed to the position of dean’s chair at the faculty. He was promoted to full professor on 1 July 2018.
David has a curatorial collection of over 200 jackets, mainly blazers, which includes rare runway looks from Alexander Lee McQueen’s final menswear collection and Gucci’s “Roger Federer Met Gala 2017” crystal cobra tuxedo. In 2022, the National Museum of Singapore acquired some of his jackets as part of the museum’s ongoing documentation of contemporary styles and perspectives in Singapore. In 2023, the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne also added a number of his jackets to their permanent collection. From January to March 2024, the Alliance Française de Singapour showcased 42 of his jackets from French brands and France-based designers in a public exhibition “La Veste”, that included rare items from Louis Vuitton, Balmain, Dior, and Comme des Garçons.
Prof. Tsou is a graduate of Harvard University and University of California Berkeley. He specializes in computational linguistics, including Natural Language Processing and Machine Translation. He led two projects under the Hong Kong Judiciary to produce bilingual court judgements after 1997 and subsequently worked on bilingual patent processing. His research group helped to organize the Chinese-English Patent Machine Translation Competition (Tokyo, 2009). His current work at Chilin (HK) Ltd, which he founded, is supported by the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Commission. It focuses on AI and Machine Translation Post-Editing and draws on a massive database of bilingual patents, specially cultivated since 2007 (https://chilin.hk/patta/) and another Chinese news media text corpus (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LIVAC_Synchronous_Corpus). He is also the Emeritus Professor of Language Sciences at the City University of Hong Kong as well as an Adjunct Professor at HKUST, and the Founding President of the Asian Federation of Natural Language Processing. Mr. Verma is an Advocate and registered Patent, Design & Trademark Attorney in INDIA, UAE & USA. In over 20+ years of experience, Mr. Verma has amassed vast experience in IP strategic advisory, patent drafting, prosecution and litigation.
Mr. Verma has handled and managed large IP projects for multiple national and international clients involving framing IP strategy and IP implementation framework, assisting clients to build their IP portfolio. Specifically, in High Tech industry, he has handled a variety of issues including protection of software patents in India. Before joining the legal profession, Alice had engaged in research in the field of molecular biology and protein science for more than 7 years and had worked as an Intellectual Property Specialist for another 7 years with a focus on biotechnology and healthcare inventions.
Alice has published articles discussing IP and regulatory issues in the areas of stem cells, natural products, genomic medicine, foods and biosimilars. She is a frequent speaker sharing practical IP tips and legal insights with researchers and start-ups, and has been teaching IP and licensing at the School of Life Sciences of CUHK since 2016. Alice is also a Registered Laboratory Medical Technologist in Hong Kong.

Ms. Amy Wong was the first Macao resident to become a China Mainland lawyer after the implementation of the CEPA policy, qualified to practice law in the Special Economic Zone of Zhuhai city since 2005 and has been engaged in Intellectual Property work and cross-border legal services since that time. She is the only China member of the ADR Standing Committee of AIPPI . Further she has been selected into various governmental talent pool campaigns , including the “1,000-person” foreign-related leading talent pool of the Ministry of Justice, the National overseas Intellectual Property Property Dispute Guidance Experts, and the Guangdong Overseas Intellectual Property Protection talent pool.
Chao XI serves as the Dean and Professor at the Faculty of Law, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He joined CUHK in 2007 after earning his PhD from the University of London. He has held several leadership positions within the Faculty of Law at CUHK, including Interim Dean, Associate Dean (Research), and Head of the Graduate Division of Law. Professor Xi is internationally recognised for his research and scholarship in Chinese law, corporate law and governance, securities regulation, financial regulation, and empirical legal studies. He has served in various roles, including as a member of the Department of Justice’s Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Task Force. Rong Xie’s practice involves patent and trademark prosecution, patent interference, technology transfer, IP-related business transactions and cross-the-border investments. Over the years, he has advised clients in various industries including automotive electronics system, building material, construction, chemistry, fashion and software. He also assists in teaching IP classes at CUNY law school by preparing course materials and giving lectures.

Dr. XUE Ying is a Senior Partner supervising the data and antitrust practices of Li Fang & Partners. She specializes in regulatory affairs in cybersecurity and data protection, antitrust and anti-unfair competition, anti-commercial bribery, and the Chinese social credit system. Dr. XUE has a comprehensive understanding of the intricate issues standing at the intersection of these areas.
Dr. XUE studied competition law at the School of Law of the University of Illinois and obtained her J.S.D. there. She also participated in many research topics led by law enforcement authorities and academia as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and actively contributed to the formulation of competition and data regulatory policies. He is an executive member of Lifang’s management committee and serves as the head of the firm’s Securities and Capital Markets practice group.
Before joining Lifang, Mr. Zheng worked at Anjie Law Firm and Akin Gump’s Washington, DC, and Beijing offices, providing legal services for various cross-border mergers and acquisitions. Prior to his tenure at Akin Gump, he served as counsel in the legal department of the World Bank. He also spent seven years at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.
