Implications of the Neoteric Methods of Imparting Legal Education in the Times of Lockdown

Abstract:

“Teachers are the next level of COVID warriors, fighting for the nation and shaping the future of tomorrow”

This global health emergency has suddenly brought the whole world to a standstill. The lives of people around the world have been affected in almost all the spheres including their social life, professional life, educational life, etc. but the suffering of each area is different due to the availability of resources available to them. One of the major hit, is the education sector. Suddenly the learning stopped due to the restrictions on the classroom mode of teaching to implement social distancing. A dir need was felt to create simplified, dynamic, and indigenous solutions to aid the education in the country. After all our future generation cannot be left to suffer at the expense this situation and bear the brunt of it’s after effects. Atmosphere has proven to be extremely challenging, most of us have had to adapt to technology that we weren’t familiar. The Indian education sector including the legal education under the direction of Bar Council of India (the regulatory body for legal education in India) was also quick enough to revamp the teaching methods through e-learning as computer education is a compulsory protocol as per Rule-9(a)(b) of Schedule-III of Rules of Legal Education-2008, every student is supposed to be computer savvy and capable to understand and follow the regime of online classes.

The researcher will focus on the various methods of imparting legal education which have been explored by the academic community. An analysis will also be taken up, whether e-learning for legal education in which practical learning is an integral of the professional has proven to be an opportunity to explore better avenues or it has been a challenge.
