Mr. Patrick Zhang – Senior Partner, Droit & Elite Law Firm (Shanghai)
Patrick Zhang is a senior partner in Shanghai Droit Elite Law Firm (“Droit Elite”). He has also been a PRC lawyer in two leading foreign law firms (including Wongpartnership LLP in Singapore and Shanghai Representative Office) before he joined Droit Elite. He gained extensive experiences in acting for clients in 19 years of PQE. His main areas of practice encompass local and cross border mergers and acquisitions, private fund investment, foreign direct investment, general corporate and commercial work.
Part of transactions of significance which Patrick Zhang has been involved in include acting for:
a foreign consortium to set up a joint venture company with a Chinese Consortium to develop a parcel of land in Tianjin, the total investment of which is RMB 1.2 billion;
AM Alpha (a Germany fund) to acquire a comprehensive property in Shanghai, the total amount of which is RMB 1.4 billion;
a US private fund to acquire two duck breeding companies located in Weifang, Shandong Province and Chengdu, Sichuan Province respectively;
- a foreign fund firm to acquire 100% equity interest of a SPV holding 100% title and interest of a Grade A office property in Shanghai;
- China Investment Corporation to acquire ordinary shares of Olam, a SGX-listed food and oil company at the consideration of USD 600 million;
- LVMH to set up its PE investment arm in Shanghai;
- Qatar Investment Authority to set up its China representative office;
- Acting for Fairchild to handle the employment issues, including, employment transfer as a part of integration of ON Semi’s acquisition, sick leave issue, service period issue and social welfare funds issue;
- Acting as annual legal service retainer for Ligman (China) Ltd;
- Acting as annual legal service retainer for CapitaLand Ltd’s subsidiary to handle their lease issues;
- Acting for Razer (Asia-Pacific) Ltd to handle their customer complaints.
Patrick Zhang graduated from Wuhan University of the PRC with an LL.M degree. He is admitted to the PRC Bar and is licensed to practice law in the PRC. His working language is English and Chinese.
