Prof. Yuanjia HU

Prof. Yuanjia HU – Professor, University of Macau

Dr. Yuanjia Hu is an Associate Professor and Programme Coordinator of Medicinal Administration in the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences, University of Macau, Deputy Director of the Medical Informatics Center of the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, and Associate Head of the Department of Public Health and Medicinal Administration, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Macau. Dr. Hu received B.Sc. degree from China Pharmaceutical University, Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Macau, and Guest Researcher fellowship in Austrian Institute of Technology. His research primarily focuses on providing informatics solutions to critical challenges in the process of drug discovery through the multidisciplinary lens of administration and technology, comprising four pillars: (1) creating methods of drug patent landscaping to assist scientific and commercial decision-making, (2) designing pharmaceutical patent valuation frameworks and models to facilitate technology transfer, (3) building up drug development platforms based on complex systems analysis, and (4) adding a scientific understanding of Chinese medicine via a data-driven approach. Dr. Hu has led 25 domestic and foreign scientific research projects, published more than 150 academic papers in international journals such as Nature Biotechnology, Briefings in Bioinformatics, Pharmacological Research, and published 4 monographs, 1 international standard, and 2 patents. He has cultivated and supervised more than 50 Ph.D., M.S. and postdoctoral students, and won more than 10 international and domestic awards, including the First Prize for International Contribution to Chinese Medicine. He is also Deputy Secretary-General and Executive Council Member in Specialty Committee on Network Pharmacology of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, Commissioner of the Commission on Network Pharmacology in Chinese Pharmacological Society, Project Researcher in the Research Center of National Drug Policy & Ecosystem, Guest Researcher of Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology in Chinese Academy of Sciences, Policy Expert in Financial Innovation Pilot Platform of State Intellectual Property Operation Public Service Platform, Director of the Council of Macao Society for Medicinal Administration, Arbitrator in Zhuhai Arbitration Commission, and Guest Editor of the Journal of Ethnopharmacology and Frontiers in Pharmacology.
