To mark the twentieth anniversary of CUHK LAW, and ten years since the Faculty hosted the first Directions in Legal Education conference, CUHK LAW will host the “Directions in Legal Education 2026” conference.
CUHK LAW is firmly committed to excellence in teaching, with the aim of preparing students for leadership roles in the legal, commercial, and financial sectors, while fostering a strong sense of social responsibility. In support of this mission, the Faculty has long organised seminars, conferences, and other initiatives to promote teaching development and enhance student learning, including Hong Kong’s first legal education conference in 2016.
The conference will build on this tradition by providing a forum for open and informed discussion on the future of legal education in Hong Kong and internationally. It will bring together a diverse group of local and international participants, including educators, practitioners, and students.
CUHK LAW now welcomes the submission of abstracts addressing any aspect of legal education, including, but not limited to, the following areas:
- Legal Education and Legal Practice
- AI‑Assisted Legal Research and the Lawyer’s Changing Cognitive Tasks
- Automation of Legal Work, Skills Formation, and the Risk of Technological Over‑Reliance
- Technology and the Transformation of Litigation and Dispute Resolution
- Data Literacy as a Core Professional Competence for Lawyers
- Professional Ethics, Responsibility, and Accountability in Technologised Legal Practice
- The Changing Lawyer–Client Relationship in the Digital Age
- Integrating Legal Technology into Substantive Law Teaching
- Preparing Students for Technology‑Driven Legal Workplaces
- The Role, Authority, and Expertise of Law Teachers in a Technologised Classroom
- Assessment Practices in Legal Education: Tradition, Technology, and Integrity
- Inclusive and Equitable Design of Technology‑Enhanced Law Curricula
- Technology, Power, and the Student–Teacher Relationship in Legal Education
- Core Pedagogical Practices in the Digital Age: Lectures, Dialogue, and Legal Reading
- Small‑Group Teaching, Tutorials, and Participation in Technology‑Mediated Legal Education
Speakers will be invited to deliver a 20‑minute presentation based on their paper.
Interested colleagues should submit an abstract of no more than 250 words at https://cloud.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/webform/view.php?id=13731615 by 21 August 2026.
Submissions should include the paper title, author name(s), institutional affiliation, a short biography (maximum 250 words), and an email address.
The Conference is free to attend, all are welcome.
